Our Family Update: We're In the Pink

We've had some exciting news to share with family and friends the past little while. As most of you know who maybe read this blog (or maybe not - it's tough to tell who actually does), we're expecting a new little addition to our family. I'm five months along now and my due date has been set at September 1, 2010. Pushing that back into August would be nice, but I've never had the pleasure of being so much as one day early before, so I won't hold my breath for that one.

I had my 20-week ultrasound a couple of weeks ago and we got the results back from my doctor. The best news is that baby is doing very well and everything looks to be developing normally and healthily. Some other news to go with that, however, is that our baby is a GIRL!! We're very excited to experience some pink after three sweet little boys. It'll be fun!

Speaking of the boys, they are in various states of excitement or, at the very least, acceptance. For a long time, Dallin has actually insisted that "there is no such thing as a baby sister." In his limited experience, there wasn't. But, now he's older and wiser and has actually predicted for quite some time that our baby is a girl. He's very happy about it and wants to tell everyone he meets that he will have a baby sister. Taylor is delighted and is fully prepared to dote on her. Caleb has been the most difficult to reconcile to the idea. For quite awhile, he wouldn't even discuss the idea of a baby. Then, he seemed to consent to the plan so long as baby was a boy. He didn't seem upset at the news of a girl, but it all may be a bit abstract to him still. We've been reading all the 'big brother' books in our arsenal and Caleb seems pleased about all the skills he has that the new baby won't have, so I think it'll all be fine. It's a good thing we have some months left for further negotiations.

I guess we'll have to think up a change to the name of our family blog. Any suggestions?

  1. How exciting Mardi! Congrats...girls are fun. We'll be having our 3rd girl in a couple months ourselves. What a lucky little sister to have such charming older brothers that will surely take care of her!
